Shorts season is here! Have you noticed that people are breaking out the shorts, short skirts, and other summer clothes already? According to the calendar it’s barely spring here in Albuquerque but it seems we all want the warm weather!
I was sitting at a coffee shop today working on this blog and I admit, I was people watching. A group of about 20 cyclists rode up. They were all different body types – some were tall, some average and some short. Long legs, short legs, didn’t matter – they were all riders. And contrary to popular opinion, not all the cyclists were super thin. Some were more muscular, and some needed to lose some weight. The great thing was they were all getting working out together and having fun.
The one thing all these riders had in common were their great legs. This group had earned the right to wear shorts and be proud of their legs. This got me thinking about some effective ways to get those summer legs you’re wanting to show off.

Indoor Cycling (Spin Class) is a great way to get cyclists legs without the cost of purchasing the bike and dangers of automobiles and road rash. It provides an effective cardiovascular workout while building strong leg muscles. I’ve heard people stand outside a spin class and say they don’t understand how people can do that workout. In fact, a spin class is a great way to workout at your own pace. The instructor will give directions on working at a certain easy level and will describe it as a flat road with no resistance. For beginners the intensity can be very different than for an advanced spin participant. The important part is to challenge yourself and make sure you have enough resistance to build those muscles!
